An important part of our mission is to award educational aid and grants to students to enhance their learning. And that is what we are doing. The Handshake Foundation has awarded its first educational grants to Los Angeles Unified School District, Carson High School Journalism students. Jack Jack is an experienced videographer and has created her own Vlog to give teen’s a perspective on the world around us. She will be reporting from our programs and events and creating stories about the importance of mentoring and other fun topics.

All great learning comes with practical experience. The Handshake Foundation actively pursues opportunities for our youth to get involved. Our growing relationship with music mentor Dino Maddalone yielded a great opportunity for one of our mentees from the Boys & Girls Clubs (BGC) of LA Harbors. We were able to give High School senior, Markk Agatep some practical hands on experience. Dino Maddalone hosts a web based mentoring show on the music business called, The Ask Dino Show.
